It is unfortunate to see a building covered in graffiti, but it happens all the time. The main problem with graffiti is if it's not cleaned up quickly then there were will be more. A "tag" is used to show dominance within an area of the city. However, another "tag" might be added to the building from a rival gang or group. Don't let the domino effect of tagging ruin the aesthetics of your building.
